Employment
Sir, —Various reasons have been given for the rise in unemployment, one of which is poor leadership. But not by the Government, as we are led to believe, but by the trade union movement This body has condoned and encouraged various malpractices during the years of full employment which have rebounded on the State and workers alike and the present situation is the result of these activities. Stopwork meetings, strikes, and the perpetual changing of jobs has cost this country millions of pounds. In short, this organisation lacks discipline, which is essential for the proper working of the trade unions, and the leaders are responsible for this state of affairs. Mr Skinner has predicted 20,000 workless by the end of the year, and. with the terms offered the unemployed he may be right, for many of these people will be better off and content to see others work for a living.— Yours, etc, L. G. W. July 7, 1967.
