A SEDGE OF HERONS.—This amusing presentation of bird life is from "Birds by Brian Wildsmith,” the noted illustrator’s latest offering for younger children. Mr Wildsmith’s art makes pictures of 20 or so species of birds a brilliant kaleidoscope of colours, and he wittily associates his pictures with group names that are said to date back for hundreds of years. With Mr Wildsmith’s assistance young children will appreciate the aptness of such as "a company” of parrots, "a stare” of owls, “a watch” of nightingales. The book is published by the Oxford University Press.
