BOXING VISIT

Sponsor For Aust. Team

The tour by the Australian team of 10 amateur boxers this month will be sponsored by Rothmans, Mr C. W. Bromley, of Christchurch, assistant director of the Rothmans Sports Foundation, said yesterday; "We will do everything to help make the visit a success. It is officially titled the Rothmans Australian amateur boxing tournament,” Mr Bromley said.

The team, comprising 10 boxers, a manager and officials, will arrive at Christchurch Airport from Sydney on July 15. The Australians will box the South Island team at Invercargill on July 17, the North Island team in Auckland on July 24, and the New Zealand team at Wellington on July 26. The Southland and Auckland associations will be in charge of the ring organisation for the North and South Island contests against the Australians, and the Wellington association is running the test match for the New Zealand Boxing Council.
