TERRACE FARMING is one of the most effective ways of curtailing erosion. This photograph shows its successful application in a southern state in the United States. Grass and tree plots periodically divide the fields and form the main control elements of the watershed. This fanning technique has again brought into production thousands of acres of sloping arable land once ruined by lack of preventive erosion methods.
