DRAINAGE WORK
Eight Contracts Let C. L. Cox, Ltd., was the successful tenderer for two contracts recently accepted by the Christchurch Drainage Board. Its figure of £29,157 was the lowest received for the first section of the Sockburn area sewer reticulation and stormwater relief contract. Six other tenders ranged to £41,428. The company was also successful with a tender of £20,599 for the Waimairi road stormwater outfall, for which five other tenders up to £32,378 were received. John Butcher, Ltd., received the contract for the Bexley stormwater pumping station. Its tender of £7396 was the only one received. The same tenderer was also awarded the contract for the piping of Logies drain in Keighleys road. Its price was £2024. Seven other tenders ranged to £3093. A tender of £17,229 from A. Edmond and Son, Ltd., was accepted for the third section of the Southshore sewer reticulation. This was the lowest of six tenders up to £27,848.
The contract for the piping of the Addington drain in Foster street was let to Mr J. Hallissey, whose tender of £8347 was the lowest of seven ranging to £12,962. Mr Hallissey also won the contract for the Rapaki road stormwater outfall. His tender was £1443. Four other tenders were up to £3023. The contract for the Auburn avenue stormwater outfall to the Riccarton main drain was let to S. C. Johnston and Sons for £l6OO, the lowest of 11 tenders up to £2OBl.
