Pacemaker Sprints Well At Washdyke

(From Out Own Reporter) UMARU. Pacemaker, which will race in the Washdyke Hack Handicap on th, second day of the South Canterbury Jockey Club's winter meeting tomorrow, sprinted attractively at Washdyke yesterday. Swiss Knight also sprinted well and could race prominently in the StrathaUan Improvers’ Handicap. Many of the horses engaged today were given easy tasks. Willypay, looking none the worse after his win last Saturday, did pace work as did Belltana, Beau Supreme, Combination, Farmer's Girl, Glamis Lad. Great Guns and No Doubt.

No Doubt will make a fresh start in the Nursery Handicap, in which he will be ridden by B. N. Marsh. The trestle, were 25 feet out from the running rail on the course proper, which was very soft after heavy rain Pacemaker (H Pateman) sprinted three furlongs keenly in 39sec. the first furlong in ISsec. Pateman) was travelling well alongside Gunga Din (J. F. Carvalho) after half a mile in S 3 2-ssec, the last three furlongs In 41sec. Both are fresh runners at the meeting.
