Cantabrians Match

Several candidates for places in the “Canterbury’s Best” team, which will be chosen by a panel of experts at the close of the competition, will parade before a member of the panel today when a Cantabrians team plays Cashmere High School. In the team are such renowned players as J. Hotop, R. M. Smith, P. A. Hutchinson, B. P. Molloy, D. J. Graham, N. Teague and C. R. Hockley. The match manager is Mr P. V. Kearney, a member of the selection panel for “Canterbury’s Best.” But it is doubtful whether performances today will serve to recall past glories, or dim the image of greatness left with the players’ retirement. At all events, it should be an entertaining match, and a valuable one for the school team. The game is a continuation of the Cantabrians Club’s coaching scheme. Three old boys of Cashmere High School and some present senior players will complete the Cantabrians team.
