Discussion On Speed Limits

: The Avondale Residents’ Asj sociation decided this week to discuss with the Christchurch | City Council traffic department the question of cars exiceeding the speed limits on i local roads. Proposals for children’s . playgrounds were discussed and the committee agreed to | start plans to raise the necesisary funds. All money raised would be subsidised by the City Council. Because of the lapse in the association’s activities over the last few years, members agreed to revive the association with the aim “to further the interests, welfare and development of the district of Avondale.”

Officers elected were: president, Mr J. Bishop; vice-presi-dent, Mr C. McManus; secre-tary-treasurer, Mr K. Matthews; committee, Messrs B. Rains, T. Crew, B. Wagenvoort, T. Haymes, J. Bishop, C. McManus, and K. Matthews.
