Protest By Burtons

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) NEW YORK, June 27. Elizabeth Taylor, the actress, and Richard Burton and Tony Curtis have cancelled their plans to attend the Moscow film festival next l month, apparently as a protest I against the Soviet Union’s Middle East policies. t Mr J. Springer, press representative for Burton and his wife, said the trip “is ! definitely off.” He said he ! would suppose that Miss Tay- ' lor’s well-known sympathies for Israel would be a reason. Both Miss Taylor and Curtis have been strong supporters of Israel. Curtis is Jewish and Miss Taylor converted to Judiasm when she was married to the late Mike Todd. A film the Burtons made together, “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” was to be an out-of-competition entry at the festival.
