Bearers Of Gifts

“I’ve seen some funny things come out of a town hall, but this is the funniest,” an onlooker said as the Mayor of Wellington (Sir Francis Kitts) presented a suckling pig to Mr M. F. Meynell, of the Taupo branch of the Travel and Holidays Association. Members of the Taupo and Rotorua branches had presented the mayor with a smoked trout and a legal deed to one square Inch of land in Rotorua. With the assistance of the director of the Wellington Zoo (Mr K. Kuiper) who supplied the pig, and the Wellington Public Relations Officer (Mr J. Thompson), Sir Francis Kitts arranged the reciprocal gift.— (P.A.)
