REFUGEE CHEQUE

C.0.R.5.0. Arab Aid

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 18. A cheque for £2OOO was sent on Friday to relieve the plight of Arab refugees, the national secretary of C.0.R.5.0. (the Rev. H. C. Dixon) said in Auckland on Saturday.

Mr Dixon said that before the recent fighting £9700 had been budgeted for the support of sewing and carpentry schools in four refugee camps, two in West Jordan and two in the Gaza strip.

The sum of £5OOO had been earmarked for electrical trade training in a camp at Kalandia near Jerusalem's airport. Israel had asked the United Nations relief and works agency to continue its work in Palestine but C.0.R.5.0. would have to find out what had happened to the refugees before further aid was sent.
