Request For Arms Likely
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) ANKARA (Turkey), June 18. Iran and Turkey have agreed to ask the United States and Britain to equip their armed forces with modern weapons, informed sources said in Ankara yesterday. This was probably among subjects discussed by President Cevdet Sunay of Turkey and Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlevi of Iran, who is on a six-day visit to Turkey. No statement was issued after yesterday’s first round of talks between the two leaders, but the sources said Turkey would suggest the building of an oil pipeline between Iran’s oil-fields and Turkey’s Mediterranean harbour.
