DUNNE MAY BE OUT

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. M. Dunne, the former Canterbury, Wellington, Marlborough and South Island forward, who returned to New Zealand last week as captain of the New South Wales Country team, may have seen the last of the tour after only one match.

Dunne suffered a spinal injury in Saturday’s match against Marlborough. He left the team yesterday to come to Wellington for examination and treatment

Dunne was able to walk only with discomfort and, if the injury is as serious as an early diagnosis suggests, he is unlikely to be able to play again on this tour.

Speedboat Death.—A hydroplane driver, W. Brow, was killed on Sunday as he diove bis 110 m.p.h. craft, Miss Budweiser, into the lead in a race on Tampa Bay, in Florida. The boat overturned and disintegrated. Brow was pulled unconscious from the water and given mouth to mouth resuscitation as he was taken to a hospital, where he died. Soccer Victory.—The Soviet Union beat Austria, 4-3, in a group three European championship soccer cup qualifying match at Moscow, after leadins 3-1 at half-time.
