Most types of vegetables sold well, and there was a Mg offering of island fruit at yesterday’s fruit and vegetable market, according to the Christchurch Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers’ Association. Prices were:— Marrows.—3os a sack. Silver Beet.—To 10s a case. Beetroot.—To 10s a box. Pumpkins.—4ss to 50s a sack. Cabbages.—To 24s a sack. Carrots.—To 21s a sack. Cauliflowers.—To 21s a case. Onions.—l4s to 16e a bag. Parsnips.—To 26s a case. Sprouts.—32s to 45s a case (good supply). Swedes.—Bs to 10s a sugar bag. White Turnips.—To 7s a case. Potatoes.—22s to 24s a bag. Kumeraa.—To 75s a sugar bag (short supply). Lettuces. —Oamaru: to 13s a ease; local: to 156 a case. Leeks.—To 10s a case; bunched, to 17s a case. Celery.—White: to 18s a dozen. Utah: to 18s a dozen. Spinach.—To 20s a case. Spring Cabbage.—To 16s a ease. Rhubarb —l2s to 18s a dozen bunches (good supply). Buttercup Pumpkins.—To 20s a case. Tomatoes.-Local hothouse: to 4s 6d a pound. North Island: to Is M i pound. Island Mandarine.—27s 6d to 39s a case. Mushrooms. —7s to 8s a pound. Grapes —Bs 6d a pound. Grapefruit.—New Zealand: 27s 6d to 35s a case. Paseionfnrit. —35s to 40s a case. TamariHos. —20s to 26s 6d a case. Kiwifruit.—2os to 32s a tray.
