Roll On-off By Road

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 31. An application for permission to run a roll-on roll-off container road service between Auckland and Gisborne was heard by the No. 2 Transport Licensing Authority today. The company proposes to use two trucks running overnight five days a week. Roll-on roll-off containers, known as “cargons,” capable of carrying eight tons each would be used, three on each truck.

If permission is granted, the service would be the first long distance warehouse-to-warehouse goods service in the country.
