FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A depression to the north-east of the North island is- moving away; a cold southerly airstream covers the country. Forecast:

Canterbury, Kalkoura Coast and Marlborough Sounds.—Southerly winds fresh in exposed coastal places but light elsewhere; cloudy and cold with light showers; the showers should persist in most coastal places and about the ranges but considerable fair intervals are expected elsewhere.
