UNIVERSITY HISTORY

Author Chosen

Miss Betty O'Dowd, of the history department’s parttime staff, has been appointed author of the centennial history of the University of Canterbury to be published for the celebration in 1973. It is hoped that the work will be ready for printing by the end of 1970.

The Vice-Chancellor (Professor N. C. Phillips) said yesterday that the university had been preparing for the history for some years. Research assistantships, established in the history department, had enabled a good deal of investigation to be done. Many associated with the university in its earlier days had already been Interviewed.
