BRIGHTON v. REX After Its excellent showing against Checkers it was expected that Brighton would completely dominate Rex when they met for the second time. However, Brighton’s play was a mere shadow of its former form, with wild passes and inaccurate shots. Rex was equally as poor and play was marred by mishandling and minor infringements.

After leading, 6-4, at half-time, Brighton showed a patch of its former form when H. Hutton rebounded with vigour to gain possession, J. Harnett and A. Boetee completed the effort with several shots and play improved temporarily. With a few wild passes. Brighton's play lapsed again, but Rex was unable to

Capitalise aa Ms shots fell well short of the ring.

A concerted effort by B. Satherly and B. MSiUer finally brought results and Rex narrowed the score to three points. This provided the incentive for J. Harnett to Intercept and net two good goals and provide the winning margin for her side. Top scorers': A. Boedee 8, J. Harnett 8.

CHECKERS V. RANGIORA Against the less experienced Ranglora side, Checkers had a leld day and had scored 20 points before their opponents were able to find the ring. With the top Canterbury players. J. Baker, S. Chamberlain and N. Sutton, well supported by their team-mates. J. Partridge and D. Entwhistle, they were able to score almost at will. UNIVERSITY V. REBELS Rebels were a little unlucky not to record a win against University and had to be content with a drawn game. D. Broughton and J. Readman put University into an early lead with good shots. Rebels had every opportunity tn the edrly stages of play but lost their chances when passes and shots went astray. A brilliant interception by S. Langrope turned the Ude in their favour and When S. Mansfield completed the movement with a goal. Rebels’ play became steady and more purposeful.

J. Nicholls moved well on attack, and only fine guarding by University's G. McGregor kept the Rebeta’ scoring down. S. Langrope and P. HLnsilwood scored quickly at the beginning of the second half, but with a changed forward line Rebels lacked the penetration of the first half.

D. Broughton and G. McGregor guarded vigorously and from resulting interceptions and rebounds gradually narrowed th, deficit until two foul shots tai tho final stages of play proved adequate to equalise the score. LOWER GRADES
