BEATEN AT YONKERS
Cardigan Bav Third (N.Z.P .A.-Reuter) . NEW YORK. New Zealand pacers, here for the 8100.000 International Pace on June 1, suffered their third defeat in two days when Cardigan Bay was beaten into third place at the Yonkers Raceway on Friday night. Cardigan Bay. starling second favourite at 3 to 1. was forced to the outside early and ran a gruelling race in second place most of the way. He was unable to find any speed in the straight to catch front-rtinner. Romeo Hanover (6 to 5), and was passed on the post by True Duane (13 to 1). The margins were a length and a quarter and a neck. The previous night the New Zealand pacer Robin Dundee, finished seventh in her American debut and Elegant Hanover finished third in his event.
