Regattas For Next Season

The major speedboat regatta lin the South Island next season I will be held at Lake Ellesmere lon February 3 and 4. It will feature the Rothman's trophy race for 100 cu. in. sydroplanes and Is expected to attract a big entry.

Dates and venues for the next season’s regattas were decided at the South Island Speedboat Association's annual meeting in Christchurch at the week end The Pelorus Jack trophy race will be held by the Marlborough Club on January 27 and 28. Heavy North Island entries are expected for this regatta and the one at Lake Ellesmere, on successive week-ends.

The conference decided that, because New Zealand was now racing under international rules, all regatta races would be raced over courses with lefthand turns.

Officers elected:—Patron, Mr A. McCaw (Nelson): president, Mr E. E. Coombes (Christchurch): vice president. Mr D. I. Burns (Oamaru): secretarytreasurer, Mr B. M. Andrews (Christchurch), honorary auditor. Mr A. Vette (Ranglora), executive, Messrs D. Cameron (Nelson), R. Cook (Oamaru), V. Harkness (Ellesmere). E. Hill (Otematata). P. R. Knight (Christchurch) and C. Dungey (Blenheim).
