AGREEMENT ON SITE

Oil Tank For Chathams

A site has been chosen for the oil tank which was to have been taken to the Chatham Islands by the Holmburn earlier this year. The nine-ton tank, with a 30,000 gallon capacity, was completed by Sherlock and Cotton, Ltd., last January and has been left near the waterfront at Lyttelton since because agreement on its siting could not be reached at the Chathams. The tank, built to the order of Mobil Oil (N.Z.), Ltd., cost £3OOO. It is fitted with a steel sledge to facilitate haulage ashore after it has been floated into shallow water from the Holmburn. The Holmbum will leave for the Chathams late next month.
