Transmission Award

'THE automatic transmission x adopted for large-scale production in the B.M.C. Mini and 1100 cars recently won an important award from a leading ‘American technical journal “Design News,” “in recognition of excellence in engineering design.” The transmission, designed by the Automotive Products group,

occupied a gearbox design team for 10 years. The operation of the transmission system is outstanding in that it can be operated by the driver in three ways: as a fully automatic box; as a manually Operated four-speed box to, or “hold” a selected gear as long as road conditions allow.
