Dories Reported To Be Inside Limit

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 23. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) tonight confirmed that the Marine Department had received a report that foreign fishing dor i e »—presumably Japanese—were sighted inside New Zealand’s three-mile limit.

The dories were sighted off Hokianga. Mr Holyoake said that the department had been informed of the incident Details were communicated immediately to the Navy, but there were no naval ships in the area. Three doriei were reported to be well within the threemile limit off Mitimiti beach,

between Whangape and Hokianga. They were reported to be setting and resetting lines. First reports of the dories came from Mrs H. W. Peney, who lives In a Forest Service bouse.

A Navy spokesman said action was being taken on the reported sightings.
