Five Burglaries Reported
Five burglaries, four of which occurred during the week-enl, were reported to the police yesterday. A house in Leinster road was entered between May 12 and 19 and a single-shot .22 rifle and electric goods to the value of £34 10s 6d were stolen. During the week-end the premises of the South Island Herd Improvement Association at 426 Hereford street were entered, and goods worth £24 3s 3d were stolen; a flat in Cotswold avenue was entered and tools worth £l3 8s were stolen; a mobile workshop at the intersection of Gardiners road and Sawyers Arms road, the property of G. Chaffey, Ltd., was entered and a skillsaw and a transformer, worth £65, were stolen; and the premises of the Woolston Tennis Club at 28 Richardson terrace were entered and soft drinks were stolen.
