First-Season Rider Wins
Riding his first season In open company, P. S. Sincock on Saturday won the Hornby and Christchurch cash cycling clubs’ 20-miile race at Rangiora. Sincock. in his second race of the season, cleared out from his co-markers with four miles to go and rode strongly to hold off a determined challenge from T. C. Gibbs, who had ridden through the field from the break mark. R. C. Archer, who was third, is also a recent novice.
The race, and two novice events, were held at Rangiora, on an out-and-home course through Loburn towards White Rock and the outward journey was a steady climb. Results:—
Senior, 20 miles: P. S. Sincock 1, T. C. Gibbs 2, R. C. Archer 3. Fastest time.—Senior: B. W. Yaxley. 48:15.3. Junior: Sincock, 51:21.3.
Novice.—B grade, 5 miles: S. Perry 1, T. Bates 2, S. Anderson 3. Fastest time: Bates, 14:59.4. A grade, 10 miles: B. Day 1, B. J. Gibbs 2. P. D. Brydon 3. Fastest time: Brydon, 26:31.5.
