No Meeting On Soul

It would be a waste of time to hold a special meeting to discuss Professor L. G. Geering’s views on the immortality of the soul now that the dispute had been declared sub-judice and a statement issued by the assembly doctrine committee, the monthly meeting of the Christchurch Presbytery decided on Tuesday.

The presbytery was discussing a report from a special committee which had been set up to draft replies to letters from the Presbyterian Laymen’s Association and the session of Leeston.

The presbytery approved a grant of £BOO a year for the Avbnhead-Westburn area of St. Mark’s parish. Approval was given also for plans to extend the plant of the Kaiapoi parish with a building containing several multi-pur-pose rooms. The cost of the project is estimated to be £12,000.
