Moore Wins At Chester

(N.Z.P. A. -Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. The Australian jockey, G. Moore won the one and a half mile Cheshire Oaks in a photofinish on Pink Gem at Chester yesterday. . The photo separated Pink Gem from Ludham. ridden by England’s L. Piggott. Resilence, ridden by B. Taylor was third, four lengths away. Pink Gem, owned by J. Joel, was 6/4 favourite. Ludham started at 9/4 and Resilence at 9/2. In the Chester Vase over one and a half miles, D. Lake brought in Great Host to win by two and a half lengths. Great Host started at 2/1.

Change Of Dates

“The Press” Special Service DUNEDIN. The decision of the Oamaru Jockey Club to drop its New Year date and race during the winter, will give much relief to Otago. South Canterbury and Southland clubs, racing during this period.

From the time of the Dunedin Jockey Club’s cup meeting at the end of December, until the Vincent Jockey Club’s fixture in mid-January there have previously been 12 meetings in three weeks.

The proximity of the dates and the usual hard tracks at this time of the year, have taken a heavy toll of South Island horses. Most of the clubs have suffered with depleted fields.

Adelaide Cup To Fulmen

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) ADELAIDE. New Zealand-bred stayers made a clean sweep of yesterday’s £BOOO Adelaide Cup. Fulmen, the 10/9-on favourite, won the two-mile event from Swift General, 5/1, with the topweight, Te Parae, 14/1, third. Both Fulmen and Swift General are trained by the outstanding Adelaide trainer, J. B. Cummings, who had never before trained an Adelaide Cup winner
