(N.Z. Press Association)
TAUMARUNUI, May 10. A man was killed on his farm at Mangakahu Valley, a few miles north of Taumarunui, at 4.45 p.m. yesterday. He was William Trevor Mears, married, with a grown family. Mr Mears and a companion were returning home on a tractor after doing some fencing, when the tractor skidded and its trailer jack-knifed. Mr Mears’s companion jumped clear and when he got up found Mr Mears unconscious on the ground. A doctor and ambulance were called but Mr Mears was found to be dead on their arrival.
