Language Problem
The secretary of the Canterbury Football Association (Mr S. G. Browne) was handed a problem yesterday—a clearance for the Christchurch City player, F. Madrussan, written in Italian. On Tuesday evening, the C.F.A. lanagement committee refused to permit Madrussan, who returned to Christchurch last week, to play for City on Saturday until it received a clearance from the Verona club, for whom Madrussan played while in Italy.
The secretary of the City club, Mr E. Millward, and Madrussan took the letter clearing the player to Mr Browne.
“It was written in Italian,” said Mr Millward last evening. “But at least Mr Browne told us that Madrussan would be cleared to play on Saturday. “The one part we could read easily enough was the club's name at the head of the letter and apparently that was sufficient evidence for Mr Browne to clear Madrussan.”
