world ploughing contest wins the Massey-Ferguson Silver Rosebowl. The rosebowl, which was presented to the World Ploughing Organisation by MasseyFerguson, Ltd., in 1956, is held by the second place winner in the world contest until it is required for presentation again at the next world ploughing contest. A small silver replica of the rosebowl is also presented to the runner-up for his permanent retention.
The trophy is 33.5 centimetres (13| Inches) in diameter, 33 centimetres (13 inches) high when standing on its wooden base and 23 centimetres (9 Inches) high without the base. For New Zealand this trophy has special interest as Canterbury ploughman, Mr H. A. (Alan) Magson won it when he was runner-up in the world contest in France in 1961. He was the Sixth winner of the rosebowl and is shown with the trophy in the photograph above. The most recent winner of the trophy was Fritz Kreiglmeyer, of Germany W. He was runner-up in Norway in 1965.
