Funds Needed For Greece

An urgent request for New Zealand assistance for the victims of the recent earthquake in the loannia district of Greece has been received by the Save the Children Fund, the New Zealand president (Miss M. G. Havelaar) told “The Press” yesterday. The affected district is the part of Greece which the fund in New Zealand already “especially helps,” Miss Havelaar said. Several villages are in ruins, and £5OO worth of blankets and 18 bales of clothing have already been sent to meet the emergency, but further aid will be required to bring the disaster fund used for meeting crises back to its necessary high level. Miss Havelaar said. Special donations for Greece may be sent to the fund’s treasurer (Mr H. R. Fountain), P.O. Box 12, Christchurch, or paid at 5 Armagh Courts, 78 Armagh street
