SECOND TERM
Labour Party President (N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 9. Mr N. V. Douglas, M.P., was re-elected president of the Labour Party today for a second term.
Two others were nominated, Mr P. N. Holloway and Mr A. G. Goldsmith. Mr Holloway is not at the conference but lolled 126 votes to Mr Douglas’s 486, Mr Goldsmith polled 14. Mr Holloway is a farmer Minister of industries and Commerce.
Mr Goldsmith is secretary of the Railway Tradesmen's Association and a key figure in the present rail strike. Mr W. A. Fox, Mr H. L. May and Sir Francis Kitts were also nominated for president but withdrew. Mr H. L. J. May, M.P., was re-elected vice-president against seven opponents after being beaded 244 to 238 by Mr W. E. Rowling, M.P., on the first count. Mr May won, 323 to 302, on the final count in a preferential ballot
