PLOUGHING CONTEST
Two Countries Withdrawn
Neither East Germany nor Czechoslovakia will be taking part in the world ploughing contest at Prebbleton-Broad-field next week. Advice has been received that Czechoslovakia, which was to have sent one competitor, will not be represented because it has not been possible to raise the finance to send him.
No reason has yet been received for the withdrawal of East Germany, which was to have been represented by two ploughmen. It now seems likely that 15 or 16 countries will be represented in the contest and that there will be just under 30 competitors.
Record Wheat OutputWorld production of wheat outside Russia and China is expected to reach in 1966-67 about two million tons above the record set In the previous season, according to the Commonwealth Secretariat's grain bulletin.—London, May 5.
