It is hoped that the post, for which no specific field of chemistry has been set down, may be filled early in 1968. The head of the department is Professor A. N. Hambly. The department provides courses leading to the degrees of Bachelor of Science (three-year pass course), four-year honours course) and supervises candidates for the degrees of Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy. The appointee will be expected to take up duty as early as possible in 1963. Research experience is required in one or more of the following subjects: Silviculture. Tropical Forestry, Genetics, Aerial Photography, Use of Computers, Wood properties and Pulp and Paper Industries. The Department of Forestry offers a four-year course leading to a first degree in forestry and engages in post-graduate training and research. Salary On appointment will be in accordance with qualifications and experience within the ranges: senior lecturer 66500 x £220—£7600 per annum; lecturer, 84800 x 3220—36340 per annum.
