Boy Killed By Tractor
(N.Z. Press Association) WAIPUKURAU, May 3. A boy was killed yesterday afternoon when a tractor pinned him to the wall of an implement shed. He was Ross Duncan Speers, aged 7, son of Mr A. G. Speers, of Taniwha, about six miles from Waipukurau. With some other children, the boy was playing on a tractor in a shed on a neighbouring property. A small girl climbed on the tractor, started the motor, and slipped the tractor into gear without using the clutch. The tractor lurched forward and pinned Ross Speers to the wall of the shed. He was killed instantly. ROAD DEATH A Napier man who was struck by a truck at Taradale on April 22, has died in the Napier Public Hospital. He was Patrick Clive McKenna, aged 75, of 61 Nelson crescent. Mr McKenna suffered head injuries and a compound fracture of the leg.
