Army Officer’s Posting
Lieutenant-Colonel P. W. F. Joplin, of Wellington, will leave for England on May 8 to attend the Joint Services Staff College at Latimer. Born in Hawera, Lieuten-ant-Colonel Joplin was educated at Wellington College and the Royal Military College, Duntroon. Commissioned in. the Regular Force in 1944, he served with the 2nd N.Z.E.F. in Japan from 1946 to 1949, and later as adjutant and battery commander with
the 16th Field Regiment in Korea. After completing the long gunnery staff course at Larkhill in 1953, he served in Germany with a British artillery unit before returning to New Zealand to instruct at the School of Artillery, Waiouru A period of staff appointments at Army Headquarters was followed by a posting to Headquarters, New Zealand Army Force, Far East, in 1962. Colonel Joplin's last appointment was director of manning at Army Headquarters.
