Dividend Cover Inadequate (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, May 2. Detailed half-year figures from Clyde Industries, Ltd. show that the steady 7i per cent interim ordinary dividend is not quite fully covered by the net profit for the six months to December 31. Consolidated net profit for the latest period was down 257,045 dollars to 539,823 dollars on the previous corresponding result. The interim ordinary payment required 537,484 dollars but there is a prior requirement of 30,000 dollars for dividend on preference shares. The result for the latest half-year excludes a profit of 41,008 dollars on sale of assets, whereas for the previous corresponding period there was a loss of 57,380 dollars. Provisions It was also after tax of 357,781 dollars (down 142,357 dollars), depreciation 393,731 dollars (up 6427 dollars), and outside shareholders’ interests of 51,289 dollars (up 12,163 dollars). In a recent interim report, directors said that sales and profits for the December halfyear had been lower than for the previous corresponding period, but they expected improved results for the current half. Total ordinary dividend has been 15 per cent since 1959.
