RUGBY TOUR MOOTED

All-Japan Team CN.Z. P?ess Association) WELLINGTON. An all-Japan Rugby team may tour New Zealand next season. The chairman of the Rugby Union’s executive (Mr T. C. Morrison) this week indicated that a move for a Japanese team to tour New Zealand would be approved. “Since the New Zealand colts toured Japan in 1958 the general thinking has been that we have some obligation to return the gesture,” said Mr Morrison. This would be the first time that an all-Japan team had visited New Zealand. The executive was hearing an application by the Universities Rugby Council for a Japanese tour in 1968. “We have a tour to Australia, and France comes here in that year, but we can assume that a Japanese tour would be no embarrassment to these fixtures,” said Mr Morrison. The executive decided to refer the application to. the union’s council.
