ORBITER WINS
Orbiter added to an already useful record this season with a decisive win in a junior free-for-all at Rodsevelt Raceway recently. The U Scott gelding paced the mile in 2min 3 l-ssec and won easily by a short length from Sharon Irishman. Peerswick was fourth and Tactile fifth. The race carried a stake of 15,000 dollars. New Zealand-bred horses have done well throughout the United States in the last few weeks. The same night that Orbiter was successful, Throwaway finished second, Gold Boa third and Idaho second in their races.
Anarca Direct won in 2min 6sec in a race worth 4000 dollars, while Lady Charles won in 2min 5 4-ssec in a race worth 3400 dollars. Morant gained his fourth win for the season when he recorded 2min 3 4-ssec.
Gemm’s Pride won a feature race worth 5450 dollars in 2min 2 2-ssec at Liberty Bell. Smoke Concert won in 3min 4sec and Scottish Flight in 2min 6 2-ssec. Giant’s Causeway (2min 3 3- Old Beason (2min 6 2-ssec), Great Reveller (2min 7 l-ssec) and Scotch Song (2min 10 2-ssec) were successful at Washington Park. Luciano, a three-year-old son of the New Zealand-bred stallion, Aldora, won in 2min 7 4- at the same meeting. The 1961 Inter-Dominion Championship winner, Massacre, gained his first win in the United States at Green Mountain Park, Vermont, in 2min 11 4-ssec. The race carried a stake of 600 dollars. Gay Reel won in 2min 8 2-ssec at Mohawk Raceway, Ontario.
