Delay For DC8s
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 17. The delivery dates for Air New Zealand’s two new DCB jets have gone back two months, the airline’s assistant general manager, Captain J. R. McGrane, confirmed today.
They are now due for delivery in November and January. The delay has been caused by the channelling of aircraft components in the United States to the Vietnam war rather than to civil projects. In spite of the delay the airline plans to go ahead in November with a service to the United States through Tahiti.
This will be made possible by greater use of the airline’s fleet of three jet-prop Electra airliners on Sydney, Nandi and Noumea services. The resumption of the airline’s service to Singapore, stopped because of the DCB training accident, was dependent on the delivery of the new jets and would thus be delayed, a spokesman said tonight.
