TOBERMORY IN FORM

SYDNEY. The former New Zealand horse, Tobermory, secured a lucky run on the rails, after slightly missing the start, to win the Carlingford Handicap at Rosehill on Saturday.
Tobermory, a four-year-old by Summertime out of Golden Slippers, started at 9/4 favourite, and won by a long neck from Bobbin Head (6/1) with Immortal Son (25/1) a length away third. Tobermory’s run was a fine trial for the two-mile Brisbane Cup on June 12. Tobermory has now won six races in 13 starts since his New Zealand owner. Mr J. Fletcher, sold him last June.
Tea Biscuit (3/1 Joint favourite) with 9-2 won the Rosehill Handicap by one length and a quarter from the New Zealandbred gelding Synfyl (14/1) with Count Remy (7/1) three-quar-ters of a length away third. Tea Biscuit proved himself a consistently good stayer last year, and his connexions have high hopes that he will atone for his narrow defeat by the New Zealand horse Apa in last year’s Brisbane Cup. Synfyl, a six-year-old by Syntax, was first away and ran on gamely for an impressive sec-.
