Japanese Ship Hits Wharf

DUNEDIN, April 14.

Considerable damage was caused when the 8300-ton Andes Maru backed into the Rattray street wharf yesterday.

The general manager of the _Otago Harbour Board (Mr W. 2Keir) said the wharf was dam--aged “considerably” and in"dentations had been made in .the ship’s stern, well above -the waterline.

2 The Japanese trader had -left Kitchener street wharf •and was turning in the basin ‘.before steaming down the har--bour when her stern hit the •wharf.
