VEGETABLE PRICES
“What you can do with a quince,” is the title of a publication included in every case of this fruit grown by H. A. Dawber, of Marshland road. Quinces were in good supply on Christchurch produce markets yesterday and sold at 6s for a 201 b case.
Auctioneers say that the recipe in the publication will help make the fruit popular. It was not until the same thing was done with tamarillos (tree tomatoes) that they became popular. The first of the new season’s tamarillos sold for 34s to 42s 6d a case yesterday. The recently-adopted name is a derivative from the countries of origin.
