FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A weak, slow-moving frontal zone lies oVer the west and south of the North Island and a cold front is moving on to the south-west of the South Island. Forecast: Canterbury.—Moderate northerlies and fine mild weather at first; moderate southerlies spreading from the south during the day with cloudy skies, cool temperatures and some light rain. Marlborough and Nelson.—Moderate to fresh north to north-west winds; partly cloudy and mild. Buller and Westland.—Moderate variable winds; cloudy, mild and humid with light rain at times.
