CAR IN CREEK
Woman And Man Killed (N.Z. Press Association) GREYMOUTH, April 7. An elderly woman and a young man were killed when a car crashed through a bridge and into a creek four miles north of Hokitika on the main highway at 11 o’clock last night. They were Eleanor Frances Douglas, married, of Hokitika, and Anthony David Carmichael, aged 25, of Oxford. In the Westland Hospital in a satisfactory condition is the husband of the dead woman, William Douglas, and Arthur Stubbs, aged 17, of Oxford. Four people have died on West Coast roads in a week. Last Friday afternoon two people were killed in a collision not far from Reefton.
Wellington Building. A £872,604 contract for the construction of a new 17-storey T. G. McCarthy Trust building in Lambton quay was let today to Downer and Company, Ltd.—(P.A.)
