LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
(1) Letters sent ta the Editor for printing should preferably be typed, otherwise they must be written in ink on one side of the paper only. A legible signature and full address are required whether these are to be published or not. A P.O. box number is not a sufflcient address. (2) Writers must say clearly whether or not their letters are being or have been sent to other papers. (3) The Editor cannot return or keep any letter which for any reason is unsuitable for printing; nor can he acknowledge unsuitable letters although this will be done where it seems to be needful, or enter into any correspondence. (4) Letters must not be of more than 150 words.
Satisfied.—No space just now. A. Merrill.—He said "other cities," not "all other cities.”
Socrates,—A matter of opinion; and discussion would lead nowhere. Amateur.—Competition of this kind could be hard on our space. J. R Edwards’s letter was admitted, with the reply, for information. We see no need for another discussion of teachers' salaries. P.J.A.—On the contrary, the phrase used in the opening sentence was Miss Fraser’s own summing-up of her general impression of China. L. H. Kyle.—The source of the report was clearly indicated. We dislike its style; but we also have a duty to let our readers know what newspaper readers all over the world are reading.
