19 Burmese Killed

(N.Z. Press Assn.— Copyright) RANGOON, March 24. The death toll in the grenade attack at a pagoda festival in Thaton, 200 miles south-east of Rangoon, has risen to 19 with the deaths of three more children in hospital, according to Burmese press reports today. Eye-witness accounts of the Monday attack say that rebels crept up behind the crowd and hurled two grenades which exploded simultaneously amid the children and a few adults sitting and laughing at clowns’ antics. Sixteen were killed instantly and 35 were wounded. Special medical teams were rushed- in from nearby areas to care for them in hospital.
