Students’ Flats
Sir,—l fail to see why we students “come into a particular category,” True, we do have educational opportunity “largely paid for by public money,” but not privileges. We had to. and still have to, work to get this opportunity. Most of us live on a bare minimum to have it. This opportunity is there for anyone who cares to take advantage. The public expect a standard of behaviour from us all—not just students. We are paid a small, but sufficient, sum by the Government, which we had to earn. We pay our taxes just like the rest. So what is our special case? I do not demand privileges, but just to be considered as an equal with the rest.—Yours, 6tC P. MINCHIN. March 23, 1967. [This correspondence is now closed.
