N.Z. NEWS. CHANGES

New Managing Director (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 21. Directors of New Zealand Newspapers Ltd., announced the appointment, to take effect next June, of Mr A. W. Scott as managing director of the company. Mr Scott will succeed Mr E. V. Dumbleton, who is to retire in June after 40 years’ service but will continue as a director. Mr Scott, who began his newspaper career in the “Taranaki Daily News”, has been manager of the “Christchurch Star” for 26 years and a director of the company since 1961. He is also chairman of Taranaki Newspapers Ltd. He has served as a director of the New Zealand Press Association, and as chairman of the labour committee of the New Zealand Newspapers Proprietors’ Association. The new manager of the “Christchurch Star” will be Mr C. L. Hardie, who has been with the company for 16 years, and assistant manager in Christchurch since 1956.
