Four youths, aged 18 and 19, “sick and disgusted at the whining about economic restrictions here” last evening voiced their protest in Cathedral Square. The youths, dressed In old clothing (one without shoes), carried a placard saying: “We’ve got it. They need it Let’s share it.” They explained to a reporter that after long discussion about economic conditions In the world, they had come to the conclusion that people in New Zealand were very well off compared with people in under-developed
countries, especially India. “Instead of moaning about a few restrictions, we should be glad to help people in less fortunate countries. Why don’t we stop pitying ourselves and help the starving in India?” said their spokesman, a university student “We will make our protest on other evenings. We feel very strongly about this.”
